Applications are invited for a one year fixed-term lectureship in Human Geography in the School of Geography at Queen Mary University of London. The lectureship will enhance the research and teaching activities of one or more areas of human geographical research in the School (Culture, Space and Power; Economy, Development and Social Justice; Health, Biosciences and Security). The appointee must have the expertise to teach a third year undergraduate module on ‘Geopolitics post 9/11: War, Security, Economy’. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrable teaching experience and research expertise.

Applicants should have, or be due to submit, a PhD and be developing a reputation for internationally excellent research in Human Geography and have teaching experience and expertise appropriate to their career stage at undergraduate and taught postgraduate level.

The School of Geography at Queen Mary has a strong international reputation for theoretically informed and empirically grounded research, and was ranked 5th in REF2014 for its world-leading and internationally-excellent research outputs. The School operates within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The post is full time for 12 months and the appointee must be available to start on 1 January 2019. Starting salary will be £41,682 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
