Overview:

We are looking to appoint a number of Teaching Associate positions, to work in the School of Economics and Finance, to support, teach, advise and facilitate the learning of students on our Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes.

Within the School of Economics and Finance Teaching Associates play an important role in supporting module organisers in the organisation, delivery and assessment of modules. Most of the students’ learning and contact time takes place in classes and Teaching Associates represent a direct and important point of contact for students. Teaching Associates teach classes, mark coursework and, wherever appropriate, either first or second mark exam scripts. They are available to support and advise students during office hours.

You will be educated to postgraduate level or equivalent, with experience of teaching appropriate to the level of the appointment. You will also have an ability to present specialist material in a logical, coherent and interesting manner, both to students and to fellow specialists. Additionally you will be able to prioritise and balance competing demands, and work independently.

The posts are fixed term from January 2019. Salary will be £33,615 per annum (pro rata) inclusive of London Allowance. There will be the option of working full time or part time (17.5 hours per week) and 5 and 8 month contracts are available. For the 5 month posts we are looking for 6 full time equivalents, and for the 8 month posts 2 full time equivalents, these can be a combination of full time and part time posts.

Please note that we are not able to offer visa sponsorship under the points based system for this role. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
