Overview:

Applications are sought for a Deputy Laboratory Manager to support the smooth operation, maintenance and day to day running of laboratories, including compliance with Regulatory Agencies.  

The successful applicant will act as a general safety officer, have a good understanding of research and the research process and space/project management. The applicant will be based in Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London.

Essential requirements for this post include a graduate in biological sciences or an equivalent technical qualification, Standard Operating Procedures and risk assessment development and an understanding of Good Clinical Practice. Laboratory management experience is desirable but not essential. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain accurate and detailed records are also essential.

The post is full time for 1 year starting as soon as possible. Starting salary will be in the range £33,615 to £39,483 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.

The Barts Cancer Institute requires that applicants invited for interview will need to provide all certificates to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.  Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
