Centre for Haemato Oncology

Research Technician

Applications are sought for a laboratory technician to provide research support in mass spectrometry proteomics projects. The successful applicant will have a degree in biochemistry or a related subject and experience working in a biochemistry or molecular biology laboratory. The research will be based in the Centre for Haemato-oncology, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London.

Essential requirements for this post include having a BSc or equivalent in biochemistry or related subject and experience working in a chemistry or biochemistry research laboratory. Experience with the operation of liquid chromatographs and mass spectrometers or with sample preparation for proteomics would be an advantage but are not essential as training will be provided to the right candidate. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

The post is full time and for 24 months.  Starting salary will be in the range £27,251 – £33,615 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, a pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.
