We are looking to appoint a Placement Officer (Grade 4), to work in the School of Economics and Finance, to oversee and monitor the administration of the School’s Industrial placements for Economics and Finance with a year in industry degree programme, and to administer the year abroad for the School’s undergraduate degrees.  

As the Placement Officer, you will develop and set-up systems for both the administration of the industrial placement and the year abroad programmes. You will work in collaboration with the Careers and Enterprise office and will use your initiative to set up industrial placements opportunities for students. You will also work in collaboration with the Global Opportunities department regarding administration of the year aboard. You will support and provide guidance to students both applying for and during their placements/ year aboard. You will also administer assessment and ensure the quality of placements. In addition to this, you’ll be expected to provide support to the teaching administration within the School team as needed.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with experience of working within a Higher Education setting and of developing and setting up new processes/ systems. You will also have experience of providing advice and guidance to students, have strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build relationships, negotiate and influence. You’ll also have excellent organisational skills and an ability to organise and prioritise your own workload.  

The post is full time and fixed term for 3 years. The starting salary will be in the range of £33,615 - £39,483 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
