Applicants are invited for the key position of Head of Network Services based at Mile End. This role is responsible for the delivery of simple, safe and sustainable network services, to manage and maintain the Core Network, Data Centre Network, Access layer switches, Wireless service and telephony (IP and analogue) on all QMUL campuses. As the networks provides connectivity to all Students, Staff and Researchers to QMUL services and beyond, it is important that the person has the right blend of technical knowledge of CISCO equipment including the configuration and management of a large enterprise network, and management skills as this post manages 10 staff.
This is a key position supporting networks within QMUL which has 3 main sites and a number of smaller sites and a growing number of international network connections, some through third parties, including Malta. This role will provide technical input into the strategies and plans ensuring the current network technology is exploited so QMUL gets maximum benefit from the investment.
Working in partnership with our academic and professional colleagues you will ensure that the service your team and IT delivers meets expectations of the different customers. You will need to interact with, engage and influence peers and management of the university and also third parties to ensure QMUL is using current network standards, tools and approaches in keeping with an enterprise network. As part of the Operations Lead Team team you will work to ensure customer satisfaction, security, stability and responsiveness are key drivers for the network service.
The post is full time and permanent with an expected start date of January 2018. Starting salary will be in the range £53,777 to £60,109 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
