Assessment Unit Administrator

The Institute for Health Sciences Education (IHSE) is one of six Institutes which form the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD), part of Queen Mary University of London. Barts and The London are a leading medical and dental school that offers international levels of excellence in research and teaching in an area of unrivalled ethnic diversity. Staff within the Institute focus primarily on Medical Education in the delivery of the undergraduate Medical Degree programme (MBBS) and are leaders in curriculum design, delivery and assessment. This includes designing and delivering a community-based programme of undergraduate education throughout the five years and accelerated graduate entry programme medical degrees. The SMD also launched the MBBS Malta with in September 2017. There is also a portfolio of Intercalated Degree programmes, postgraduate and continuous professional development (CPD) courses that continues to develop. The Institute is also responsible on behalf of the SMD, for the management of administration for all aspects of the MBBS programme from application to graduation.

Under the guidance of the Assessment Manager to deliver all assessments (in-course and end-of-year) for the five Year and Graduate Entrants' MBBS programmes.

The post holder will provide administrative support and act as secretary to designated exam boards and committees.

The post holder will be expected to work closely with their counterparts in the Phase and CBME teams, as well as the Student Records Manager, to ensure seamless service to students in the areas of examination and assessment.

While this post leads on assessment functions for a specific phase, the post holder will be required to work in a matrix of assessment support providing administrative support to colleagues throughout the assessment annual schedule.

As it is a student facing post, it carries reputational and operational impact.t is expected that the work of the post holder will make a positive contribution to the student experience and improve the School’s achievements in national league tables and public audit reports.

The post is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be in the range £26,717 - £32,956 (Grade 3) inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
