CCLS are inviting applications from PhD students for the post of Research Assistant in the EPSRC project ‘Nash equilibria for load balancing in networked power systems’, based at the Lincolns Inns Field campus.

The post-holder will undertake duties under the supervision of Dr. Noam Shemtov that will involve carrying out research primarily in relation to the patentability of the technological implementation of the algorithms and mathematical methods developed as part of the project.

Candidates are expected to have a PhD (or be close to completion) in the subject area of the planned legal research. An understanding of the research process, the ability to write and edit complex documents with a high degree of accuracy and precision, and strong organisational skills are also essential.

This is a part-time position and the successful candidate will be required to work one day a week (7 hours) for the duration of 8 months fixed term contract.

Starting salary will be in the range of £30,445 to 32,956 per annum (pro rata) inclusive of London Allowance.  Benefits include 30 days annual leave per year (pro rata) and a defined benefit pension scheme.  The post is to commence as soon as possible.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required, this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
