Overview:

Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry

We are looking for a full time Research Assistant within a new ‘NIHR Global Health Research Group on Developing Psycho-Social Interventions for Mental Health Care at Bart’s and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry’. The Group started working on 1 August 2017 and is hosted in the Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry. The Unit studies how social interactions can be used to reduce and overcome mental distress, with a leading role in international collaborations. Since 2012 the Unit has been a WHO Collaborating Centre, the only one specifically for Mental Health Services Development in the world. The Unit is located at the Newham Centre for Mental Health.

The post holder will support the overall co-ordination of the NIHR Global Health Research Group. The multi-disciplinary Group works with partners in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Colombia and Uganda, and aims to refine and test interventions that utilise existing resources in relationships, families and communities to help people with severe mental illnesses. The post-holder will have a central role in the scientific and practical activities of the Group and work closely with its Director, Professor Stefan Priebe, and the Programme Manager, Catherine Fung.

Salary will be in the range of £36,677- £43,152 per annum inclusive of London Allowance (depending on qualifications and experience). Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
