This is an exciting full time, permanent role which will take a lead in the development and administration of most of the 200+ Societies at the Union. The Societies Coordinator will help societies to realise their projects and events, whilst ensuring they are effective and safe. The post holder will also line manage the Student Engagement Administrator and support the wider Student Engagement Department as and when required.
The successful candidate will have a passion and enthusiasm for improving the student experience and have a positive attitude and commitment to working with students. The successful candidate will have the ability to use their own initiative and have experience of working with student groups.
QMSU represents and supports over 18,000 students who make up the diverse and vibrant student body at Queen Mary, University of London. Nearly 7000 students are a member of at least one of the 200+ societies making it the largest area of student activity within QMSU. In addition the Student Engagement Department is responsible for Raise and Give (RAG), Volunteering, Student Media, Employability and Sustainability.
The Societies Co-ordinator will assist in all aspects of running societies, whilst taking the lead in certain areas. This will include; administrative support, organising events, monitoring budgets and expenditure, training and development.
Applicants should have a good understanding of the needs of students, have excellent organisational skills and have the ability to work with a wide range of people. You will also need to be empathetic to the needs of the students and have the knowledge and experience of working in an education or not-for-profit environment. Applicants are expected to have experience in administration, delivering training or presenting to large groups and the governance of student societies.
The post is a full time, permanent position. Starting salary will be £26,717 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance and raises 1 point annually as set out in the QM Pay and Grading Structure.
