The School of Business and Management (SBM) and Department of Law seek to recruit an inspirational teacher and educational leader to a lectureship in business law. Experienced candidates with a strong university teaching record are encouraged to apply. This post offers an opportunity to make a major contribution to the development of cross-disciplinary programmes at the interface between law and business and management. The post holder is expected to lead in the delivery of the new LLB in Law with Business.

School of Business and Management

The School has been undergoing a period of rapid growth, doubling our number of academic staff over the last five years. We presently have 85 academic staff, with more appointments in process. We have over 1100 undergraduate Business Studies students plus approximately 600 students taking business in combination with other degree subjects within QMUL. At the post-graduate level we have around 600 MSc students and a well-established doctoral programme of around 60 doctoral students.

SBM’s core purpose is to promote social justice, sustainability and good governance in the management of private, public and voluntary organisations through our research and education. We are a distinctive School that takes a humanities and social science led approach to our scholarship, and are now the largest school within QMUL’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), with its traditional strengths as a site of critical thinking in the humanities, law, history, geography and politics.

Department of Law

The Department of Law is one of the leading global law schools. It is ranked number 3 in the UK and 1st in London in the 2018 Guardian University rankings, and has featured consistently in the top 50 global law schools in the QS rankings, ranked 37 in the world in 2017.

Lecturer in Business Law (Teaching and Scholarship)

Candidates will be expected to have acompleted doctorate (or have a doctorate under examination) by March 2018 in the relevant field and be able to demonstrate the capacity for excellent teaching in a UK university context.The successful candidate will be expected to plan, develop and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in areas such as business law, corporate governance, law in society, international legal issues affecting business and/or regulatory studies. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise and a passion for the early professional development of business and law students. We envisage that the incoming post-holder will take a prominent role in liaising between SBM and Law, and developing new cross-disciplinary programmes and educational experiences. QMUL is strongly committed to the development of all its staff and we will ensure that the successful candidate has the opportunity to develop their teaching and administrative skills.

Starting salary will be in the range £40,865 - £50,881 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance and benefits include 30 days annual leave, USS pension scheme membership, and interest-free travel season ticket loan.
