Permanent post in the Economy, Development and Social Justice research theme


Applications are invited for a permanent Lectureship / Senior Lectureship in Human Geography in the world-leading School of Geography at Queen Mary, University of London. We are seeking to make an appointment which will enhance the research and teaching activities of the School of Geography and its internal and external collaborations. Applicants are invited from those whose research and teaching fits within the School’s Economy, Development and Social Justice research theme.  

Applicants should have, or be due to submit, a PhD and be developing a reputation for internationally excellent research in Human Geography. Applicants should have teaching experience and expertise appropriate to their career stage at undergraduate and taught postgraduate level.

The School of Geography at QMUL has a strong international reputation for theoretically informed and empirically grounded research, and was ranked 5th in REF2014 for its world-leading and internationally-excellent research outputs. The School operates within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The School is committed to Athena SWAN principles and holds an Athena SWAN Bronze award.  

The post is full time and permanent, starting from 1 September 2018. The starting salary will be in the range £40,865 to £50,881 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, a defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
