The Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit (PCTU) is a fully registered UKCRC trials unit based within a large and vibrant Centre for Primary Care and Public Health and linked with the Centre for Psychiatry, where staff engage in a wide range of applied health research, providing a stimulating work environment. The PCTU leads and supports clinical trials in which the primary question of interest relates to intervention effectiveness: whether an intervention works under real-life conditions. It also carries out and supports pilot studies for these trials. The unit focuses particularly on trials of complex interventions.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join an expanding team of highly motivated and enthusiastic IT and data management staff as Data Manager. You will engage with a number of trial teams working on a variety of clinical trials in important priority areas for the NHS. These include trials exploring ways of delivering primary care, trials focusing on women's health and mental health, and trials related to bowel conditions and surgery. This post will have a focus on documentation, requirements gathering for trial databases, testing and user training.
Experience of clinical trials data management is essential especially on the use of electronic data capture (EDC) systems such as OpenClinica and RedCap. Also required are the experience of writing documentation, training end users, conducting user testing, as well as the knowledge and understanding of data protection and information security (e.g. Data Protection Act 1998).
The post is full time and fixed term for 24 months starting as soon as possible. Starting salary will be in the range £26,717 to £32,956 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
