We are looking for a highly driven, motivated and forward thinking operator to become a key part of our Commercial Team at QMSU. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to act as a duty manager for any one of our 3 cafes, with a desire to develop both service and sales.


QMSU Services Limited (the Company) is the wholly-owned subsidiary of the charity known as Queen Mary, University of London Students’ Union (QMSU – the Union). Carrying on business as a commercial company, the services are provided principally for students (and staff) at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), in support of the charitable aims and objectives of the Union to implement its mission to ‘improve students’ lives’ and its strategic plan. This role will provide assistance in the development of licensed trade activity across the estate as well as marketing support for the Union as a whole.


As a duty manager for our outlets, you should have excellent customer service skills, a passion for coffee service and an ability to coach and manage our student staff during service. They should also have a keen eye for detail and look to thrive in a fast paced environment. They need to be committed to the values of QMSU, being a safe, friendly and student led democratic organisation. Applicants would also need to be able to operationally focused and willing to work a mixture of shifts, including occasional weekends.


The post is full time 35 hours per week. Starting salary will be in the range of £22,781 - £27,513 per annum (pro rata), inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.


Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
