About the Role

We are seeking an experienced research information manager to join the Research Support team in Library Services as Research Reporting Analyst.  Working with researchers and research professional staff, the postholder is responsible for ensuring that high quality records for an average 4,000 published outputs plus other research outputs and outcomes information are collected into institutional research reporting systems (Symplectic Elements), as well as providing leadership on the ongoing development of these systems. They work collaboratively with other research professional staff to develop and enhance research reporting capabilities across the institution, as well as using their own expert knowledge of packages such as Excel and PowerBI to produce analysis of research outputs and outcomes data for internal reports. 

The postholder provides support and guidance to researchers completing mandatory annual submissions via Researchfish, and to funding organisations such as the National Institutes of Health Research and UK Research & Innovation.  They manage platforms to generate output metrics (SciVal, InCites, Dimensions) ensuring that their use adheres to the principles of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment, to which Queen Mary is a signatory.

About You

You will have demonstrable experience of managing research information, producing high quality research information reports and analysis, as well as an in-depth knowledge of using and developing research reporting systems, analytics and bibliometrics platforms.  You will have experience with producing bibliometrics and other analytics data for research review processes, and have strong networking, collaboration and teamworking skills.  You will have a collegial approach to working, be able to manage your own schedule, and have experience with setting and supervising the work of others. 

About the Department

The Library Services department is a major part of the Student and Academic Services Directorate and provides an essential service for both researchers and students.  The fundamental role of the Research Support team is to assist researchers in undertaking and reporting on their research activities, including facilitating access to primary and secondary source materials, licensing and sharing their research for others to access, and reporting on outputs and outcomes from their research to funding organisations and within the institution.

The post is based primarily at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, permanent appointment with an expected start date of August 2021. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £38,084 - £44,087 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
