About the Role

We're looking for someone motivated, organised and professional to join the Queen Mary Academy.
In this busy and varied role you will be responsible for a broad range of tasks supporting our busy Researcher Development Team. This will include supporting and promoting our growing program of over 250 workshops, supporting the work of the Concordat Implementation Group, maintaining databases and websites, and providing accurate analysis of data and reporting on the team’s activities.
Your role will evolve as the Academy’s work develops, so to succeed you will need to demonstrate a flexible and agile approach.
We’re looking for someone who is organised with strong attention to detail ensuring accurate work in a fast paced environment, and who is able to quickly develop an understanding of specialized areas of work.
This is an exciting time to join the Queen Mary Academy, as we grow and develop our team and our portfolio.
You will have experience of working in higher education, or a professional body, and have a strong interest in training and development. You’ll need the ability to develop positive working relationships with a broad range of staff and students, so strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
You will need excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise a busy workload to meet deadlines and achieve your objectives. You will be expected to adjust priorities as necessary in response to changing circumstances.
About the Academy
The Queen Mary Academy is a flagship department at Queen Mary University of London. It provides academic practice development for academic staff, teaching staff, research staff, and research students. Guided by the University’s 2030 Strategy and associated enabling plans, the Academy delivers development programmes that enables the delivery of an inclusive educational environment where students and staff flourish and reach their true potential. The Academy will offer development opportunities to academic, teaching staff, research staff and research students at all stages of their career, from teaching assistants through to the professoriate.
Located within the Office of the Principal, the Queen Mary Academy reports to the Vice-Principal (Education) and has a dotted-line report to the Vice-Principal (Research) to ensure strategic alignment in our approach. The Academy also works closely with colleagues from academic, doctoral college, research services, academy registry and council secretariat and professional development colleagues to deliver a comprehensive academic practice development portfolio.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, fixed term appointment for 1 year. The starting salary will be Grade 3, in the range of £27, 742 to £34,220 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
