IT Hybrid Platforms Manager
About the Role
A “hands on” role managing a team of infrastructure specialists responsible for the running, development and build of the universities on-premise servers, storage, virtualization and backup estate; and leading the team technically as we look to develop our public cloud hosted infrastructure.
This is a challenging and important position for an organised, logical, self-starter, with excellent communications skills, and attention to detail. The successful candidate will be expected to implement and develop new technologies and processes, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and lead a team of specialists entrusted to deliver robust, resilient, responsive and secure University wide services.
- High level of expertise with public cloud infrastructure (Azure or AWS preferred)
- High level of expertise with on-premise infrastructure (Server hardware, virtualization platforms, storage, server OS, and backup)
- Proven experience in leading in the delivery and running of performant and resilient enterprise solutions to meet both customer and business requirements.
- Understanding of fundamental elements of Oracle and SQL databases is desirable.
About the Department
The Hybrid Platforms team, part of the Platforms and Service Delivery directorate within IT Services, is responsible for on-premises server and storage hardware, backup, 1000+ virtual servers and their operating systems installed on them, Databases, and public cloud infrastructure in the near future. The team has a critical responsibility for the infrastructure the university relies on to provide a diverse range of services to staff and students both in the UK and abroad.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, permanent appointment, with an expected start date of October 2021. The starting salary will be Grade 6, in the range of £48,035- £53,625 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
