About the Role
We are seeking a self-motivated International Higher Education professional to provide support to the university’s Vice Principal (International) and Global Engagement Office team as Global Projects and Policy Manager. The post-holder will play a key role in driving forward the development, management and success of Queen Mary’s international projects across the globe. The post is advertised as fixed term shared parental leave cover, with the expectation of a five month contract spanning early September 2021-February 2022.
The successful candidate will work with colleagues in the Global Engagement Office, office of the Vice Principal (International), and Queen Mary Global Policy Institute to initiate, coordinate and deliver international projects, policy initiatives and partnerships. The position is based at the Queen Mary campus at Mile End. It may potentially involve working at other Queen Mary locations in London, or involvement in overseas trips (if Covid-19 conditions allow), though the ability to travel internationally is not an absolute requirement.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has already gained experience working in international higher education, is highly personable, and comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders both within a university setting and through external meetings with UK and overseas partners. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with accomplished project management, briefing and organizational skills, a good eye for detail, and the capacity to represent Queen Mary with credibility and professionalism to a wide range of stakeholders.
About the Department
The Global Projects and Policy Manager role is co-located within the Principal’s Office – providing support to the Vice Principal (International) - and Global Engagement Office, part of the Directorate of Marketing and Communications. The Directorate is concerned with the protection and promotion of Queen Mary’s reputation and the recruitment of students.
The Global Engagement Office is responsible for the marketing of Queen Mary’s profile and educational programmes and the recruitment of students (home and overseas). The Global Engagement Office comprises three teams: International Student Recruitment; Global Opportunities and International Partnerships. The International Partnerships team are responsible for the strategic development and management of Queen Mary’s international partnerships, including Transnational Education (TNE) programmes.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is presented as a full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment, with an expected start date in early September 2021. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £38,084 - £44,807 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Consideration will be given to candidates wishing to apply on the basis of a 0.8 FTE or similar part-time basis.
