About the Role

Queen Mary operates a Nursery as a self-financing resource with the purpose of providing childcare

support for parents who wish to study or work at the University. Once this prime aim has been

satisfied, any remaining child places are open to the local market for non-university parents, as part of

Queen Mary’s contribution to the local community.


We are looking for a professional and experienced Nursery Manager to provide high quality care and education for our children. Our purpose built, nursery needs an enthusiastic individual to help our dedicated staff team in maintaining an atmosphere that nurtures children under five.


About You

The successful candidate must have Level 4 or above or equivalent in an Early Years related subject, experience in a managerial role, experience of effective, comprehensive record keeping, an understanding of health & safety legislation and it’s practical implementation in an early years setting and an understanding of safeguarding children, special educational needs and equal opportunities legislation and how they must be out into everyday practice. We need someone who is passionate and innovative in their approach and experienced in tracking children’s progress. We rigorously safeguard children and all applicants will need to be cleared by the 'Disclosure and Barring Service’ and checked for their working with children.


The post is full time (40 hours per week), permanent appointment. Starting salary will be £43,525 - £51,208) per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days (pro rata) annual leave and pension scheme.


Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
