About the Role

The post provides an excellent opportunity to undertake many of the wide range of tasks that are integral to providing an efficient and effective Archives and Special Collections Service. The post holder will answer enquiries, supervise users, carry out reprographic requests and monitor storage environments. In addition, they will work on their own projects such as sorting, arranging and cataloguing specific collections, basic preservation work, and digitisation of archive material, under the supervision of the Lead Archivist. They will also have the opportunity to contribute to outreach initiatives including talks, exhibitions, workshops, online publicity and social media.

 

About You

The post holder will hold a good honours degree or equivalent. The role would be ideally suited to an individual who is currently undertaking a distance-learning MA in Archives and Records Management, or has gained the relevant Masters qualification and has some experience of working (whether paid or voluntary) within an archive service. Alternatively, we would welcome applicants who do not have the archive qualification but who can demonstrate significant experience of working within an archive service, relevant to the job profile for this role.

The post is based primarily at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment with an expected start date in July 2021. The starting salary will be Grade 3, in the range of £27,742 - £34,220 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
