About the Role

We currently have opportunities for some Teaching Fellows to join our team. Teaching Fellows teach, advise and facilitate the experiential learning of students in formal and informal teaching and learning sessions, using appropriate educational best practices to maximise learning and promote a positive student experience.

The Teaching Fellows will focus in particular on topics in design, fluids, solids, mathematics, engineering principles or other related areas, providing synchronous and asynchronous teaching and supporting student activities in coordination with academic colleagues. There may also be opportunities to get involved in more specialist education topics which suit the applicant’s interests.

Roughly 70% of time for each TF will be spent in direct face-to-face education delivery, either through taught modules or project supervision. The remaining time will be available to provide student feedback (formative and summative).

About You

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning through:

  • Teaching and the evaluation and assessment of student achievement and development
  • Managing student support through e.g. feedback and supervision
  • Contributing to the evaluation and assessment of modules
  • Providing advice and guidance to students
  • Contribution to laboratory-based teaching
  • Leading on relevant administrative tasks of the module(s) they support

Candidates must have a postgraduate degree in an engineering discipline (e.g. mechanical, aerospace, materials, bioengineering, chemical or design) or related field and/or relevant professional qualification and/or equivalent professional experience.

This post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. We are able to offer the posts at 0.4FTE, 0.5FTE, 0.6FTE, 0.8FTE and full-time. We encourage applicants to think flexibly about full-time or part-time roles to best suit their personal circumstances. The posts are fixed term contracts for up to 9 months (6 positions) or 12 months (2 positions) and are available immediately. The salary will be in Grade 5, in the range of £38,655 - £41,918 per annum (pro rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
