We are looking for a highly driven, organised and student focused person to be part of our Commercial Team at QMSU. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to manage a variety of different tasks within the bar and kitchen venue, as the space needs to be extremely versatile in its offerings to our students and staff.

QMSU represents and supports over 25,000 students and around 4,500 staff who make up the diverse and vibrant student body at Queen Mary, University of London. Drapers Bar and Kitchen is based on our Mile End Campus of the University, which is close to both Mile End and Stepney Green Underground Station.  The Commercial services outlets run by QMSU are provided principally for students (and staff) at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), in support of the charitable aims and objectives of the Union to implement its mission to ‘improve students’ lives’ and its strategic plan. This role will provide assistance in the development of licensed trade activity mainly on our Mile End campus.

Applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to manage our 800 capacity multi-purpose licensed premises along with a large team of part-time student staff, acting in an operational capacity as and when required, and being a ‘hands on’ approachable leader who is committed to the values of the organisation, maintaining a safe, friendly environment with the student experience at its core.

The post is full time 35 hours per week, and the starting salary will be in the range of £28,208 - £34,733 per annum (pro rata), inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Stephen O’Brien (Head of Commercial Operations) at or on +44 (0) 020 7882 8458.
