About the Role

Applications are invited for the post of Research Manager within the Blizard Institute. Candidates must have considerable experience in supporting research in a higher education institution, NHS or research body.   Working closely with the Director of Research and Director of Graduate Studies, the post holder will provide support for research activities across the Institute including; seeking funding opportunities, facilitating grant applications, supporting academics in developing impact outcomes and contributing to the development and implementation of research strategy.  


About You

Candidates will be required to have significant experience of working within an academic research environment and will have excellent analytical, financial management, communication and interpersonal skills.  A proven ability to prioritise your workload and to work independently is essential. To apply for this post, candidates should be educated to degree level within a biomedical or related discipline or have equivalent professional experience with substantial experience in a similar or related role.


About the Institute

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is the largest of seven Institutes within Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 400 staff based in five academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment with an expected start date of August 2021. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £38,084 - £44,807 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
