This exciting role will focus on assisting with the effective running and ongoing development of the recreational sporting offer within Queen Mary Students Union’s Get Active and Campus Games programmes. The role aims to increase participation levels, address inactivity and improve awareness and knowledge of healthy lifestyles and physical activity for both students and staff in a relaxed, accessible and affordable environment.
QMSU represents and supports over 25,000 students and 4,500 staff who make up a diverse and vibrant university environment. This role will use comprehensive research, insight and innovation to meet the needs of Queen Mary University of London’s student and staff with specific targets around inactive, hard to reach groups. It will assist in gathering relevant feedback from new, existing and unengaged participants which will allow the adaption of the Get Active and Campus Games programmes to ensure there is an offering for all where possible.
The Recreational Sport Supervisor will work within the Sports development team and will utilise student staff within the team to deliver exceptional levels of customer service, encouraging and bringing new participants into sport and physical activity, and therefore playing a key role in achieving increased levels of participation in sport and physical activity.
Applicants should have excellent communication and organisational skills and have the ability to work with a wide range of people. Experience or familiarity of working within a sporting and/or student environment is desirable. Candidates must have the ability to work well under pressure, prioritise a varied workload, meet deadlines and be an inspirational leader to university students and staff.
The ideal participant will have a desire to work within the sport, health and physical activity sector. They will be driven to make innovative, meaningful change within an evolving and demanding student environment. The role has an exciting prospect to evolve within the next 18 months, in line with the demands of the sector and QMSU environment.
The post is a permanent post within the Students’ Union. Starting salary will be between £22,212- £27,034 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan and membership of the Health and Fitness Centre.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
