About the Role
Applications are invited for the role of Research Assistant to work on a British Academy funded project exploring how inequality effects political participation in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The postholder will provide research support entailing Data collection and analysis across two neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires. They will also co-write key outputs, have opportunities to participate in international conferences and provide further administrative support.
The postholder will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Dr Sam Halvorsen, and Co-Investigators, Dr Sebastian Mauro and Dr Rocio Annunziata.
Applicants should have a relevant postgraduate degree in the social sciences or relevant research experience. A PhD is desirable. Expertise in Spanish is essential.
Applicants must have prior experience of using qualitative research methods. Experience in undertaking research in Latin America is desirable.
The applicant must be able to work independently and as a part of a team.

The post-holder will be based in the School of Geography within the Economy, Development and Social Justice Research theme. Comprising a vibrant mix of established and early career scholars, there is a strong interest in democracy and cities of the Global South. The School also participates in the Queen Mary Latin American research network.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a part-time (17.5 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 12 months, with an expected start date of 1st of October 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The starting salary will be Grade 4, £32,087-£33,824 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
