We seek an experienced preferably Postdoctoral Research Assistant in cellular and molecular biology to contribute to the delivery of high-quality research under the supervision of the Head of Centre to realise the research objectives of the Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology (EMR).
The main duty of the post is the development and implementation of in vitro and in vivo assays to test pharmacological agents in acute and chronic models of joint disease and inflammation with different aetiologies. In particular, the applicant will be involved in a large consortium developing an organ-on-a-chip model of synovial tissue, testing the outcomes by imaging, FACS, ELISA, RT-PCR and other methods. In addition, the post involves supporting other aspects of the EMR centre such as the nCounter facility.
The successful candidate will join a 60 strong research team of scientists and clinicians dedicated to Inflammation and Rheumatology Research at the Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology (EMR). The Centre is focused on the development of innovative therapeutic and diagnostic approaches to inflammatory arthropathies. The emphasis is on translational research by combining strengths and expertise of basic and clinician scientists working together. The Centre offers refurbished laboratories, cutting edge facilities and is located in the heart of the City of London in close proximity to the Barbican Arts and Music Centre.
Duration and salary
The post is full time and on a fixed term 48-month contract. Provisional start date is 1st October 2021, but negotiable depending on the candidate’s current employment status. Salary will be in the range of £32,087 - £37,632 per annum at Grade 4, depending on experience, inclusive of London Allowance. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
