About the Role

The Language Centre within the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film (SLLF) is looking to appoint a Research Assistant in Co-Design on the project project ‘Autistic adults online: Understanding and enabling autistic sociality in digital networking environments’. The post holder will work closely with the investigators leading the design-related work package. She or he will design, plan, and carry out co-creation exercises, collect, process and interpret data from these exercises, and prepare and author papers relating to the delivery of the project.

About You

Applicants should have a PhD in human-computer interaction, design studies or a related area of research. They should be able to demonstrate experience in the collection and analysis of data resulting from workshops and co-creation activities, and in a range of ethnographic and design methods. The post-holder will have experience of publishing within Human-Computer Interaction communities, excellent oral and written communication skills, and demonstrable experience of successful project delivery and working as part of a team.

About the School/Project

The ESRC funded project ‘Autistic adults online’ engages in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of linguistics and human-computer interaction design, examining how autistic adults use social media to establish connections with different relational groups and how they navigate the opportunities and challenges of such interaction.

You will be working with Dr Nelya Koteyko (Principle Investigator, SLLF) and Professor John Vines (Co-Investigator, School of Design, University of Edinburgh).
