About the Role
The Department of English in the School of English and Drama in Queen Mary’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences seeks to appoint a full-time (1.0fte) Lecturer in Medieval and/or Early Modern Studies. The successful applicant will be able to contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across the medieval and/or early modern period, to team teaching as well as to the development of distinctive new modules in their specialist areas. They will contribute to our thriving and diverse culture of research in medieval and early modern studies. Candidates who engage with critical race studies, gender and sexuality studies, and/or whose research concerns the wider pre-modern world, are strongly encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will hold a PhD (or equivalent) in English, or a related field, and must have a growing or established international research profile and substantial plans for future research and leadership. They will join a department committed to an interdisciplinary and global approach to Anglophone literary studies, and with significant expertise in both medieval and early modern literature. Experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in large and small group settings is an essential requirement. The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time and permanent with an expected start date of 1 September 2021. The starting salary will be Grade 5-6, £42,433 to £51,395 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
