The Clinical Research Centre has been part of the WHRI since 1998 when it conducted the ground breaking Ascot study, the results of which have influenced guidelines on lipid lowering and optimal management of hypertension. It now conducts between 30- 40 clinical trials primarily in cardiovascular disease, but also in different therapeutic areas such as respiratory medicine, endocrinology, diabetes and dementia.
The primary role of this Data Coordinator post is to support the research teams in the running of investigator initiated, NIHR and commercial clinical trials. Responsibilities include creation and maintenance of files for clinical trials, collection of trial data and completion of case report forms and the creation and maintenance of a database of trial activity. The post holder will be responsible for clinical trial administration primarily concerned with NIHR, commercial and local academic clinical research studies. The post holder will support the activities of the Clinical Leads for Research and the Research Nurse Manager to assist with the conduct of trials and maintenance of high quality work and training.
The appointee will have a science-related degree or equivalent and will be competent in the use of electronic patient systems and software. Prior experience of working in clinical trials or health related research is desirable.
The post is full-time fixed term maternity leave cover for one year and it is expected that the successful candidate will hold it for the full period. However, should the post-holder on maternity leave exercise her right to return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month. Starting salary will be in the range £26,717 - £32,956 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. The post-holder will report to the Nurse Manager, Anne Zak.
