Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) has a vacancy for 36 months for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant, in the The School of Engineering and Materials Science as a result of a successful EPSRC grant under the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund. The aim of the project is to develop and investigate low cost functional carbon materials to be used as negative electrodes in Na-ion batteries. Under the supervision of Prof. Magdalena Titrici, the successful candidate will work to produce a range of functional carbon materials from biomass precursors and test their performance as electrodes in Na-Ion batteries in both half cells and full cells in different configurations of electrode/electrolyte.
All applicants should have, or be about to gain, a PhD or equivalent in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics or equivalent subject. Experience in appropriate research techniques relevant position are required, as outlined in the job description.
Each post is full time and fixed term for 36 months, and is expected to start in October 2017. The starting salary for each post will be £32,956 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. (Benefits include 30 days paid annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan).
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
