About the Roles

Queen Mary has ambitious plans to grow our research and impact profile, set out in Strategy 2030, and supported by the Research and Innovation and the External and International Engagement Enabling plans.

Two new thematic Deputy Vice Principal roles have been created to lead this work, ensuring Queen Mary is fostering an environment which enables researchers to achieve impact beyond academia, and that we are gathering the case studies and evidence which demonstrate the transformational contribution that Queen Mary makes in our community in East London and across the world. Partnerships and engagement are at the heart of this activity, which will build on the significant progress in our impact profile achieved in preparations for REF 2021.

The two roles are:

  • DVP for Impact – Culture, Civic and Community: reports to the VP for Policy and Strategic Partnerships, with a dotted line to the VP for Research and Innovation.
  • The DVP for Impact – Enterprise and Commercial Innovation: reports to the VP for Research and Innovation, with a dotted line to the VP for Policy and Strategic Partnerships.

About you

You will hold a senior academic post at Queen Mary. An established and active researcher, you will have a strong portfolio of research activity. You will also have direct experience of achieving impact through the perspectives your role will support, either through civic, community or cultural engagement, or through commercial innovation and entrepreneurship.

You will also be an excellent communicator: adept at motivating and engaging colleagues internally and promoting Queen Mary to external audiences.

These roles are offered as a three-year, part-time posts (0.5FTE) and is available as a partial secondment from established academic positions at Queen Mary.
