Library Frontline Services – Enquiries Supervisor


About the Role

We are seeking a Library Supervisor in the Enquiries team, who will be responsible for managing a team of about 3-4 Library Assistants and take a day to day responsibility for the standards of service and first impressions offered to library users across three sites, each with a distinctive character of their own.

You will work closely with the Manager for the Enquiry services. These services are used by the whole university community, including a very high number of taught students at peak times.

The Supervisors also act as Duty Supervisors, taking charge of day to day running of the onsite services on a rota basis. The Enquiry Supervisor role focuses mainly on the smooth running of enquiry handling via email and webchat, different categories of library membership and preparation for annual events such as Welcome Week. You will be involved in some service improvement projects.

The post is permanent and is available from September 2021. The post is Grade 4 (£34,733 - £40,797 inclusive of London allowance)


About You

You will have excellent communication skills, excel at multi-tasking and be calm under pressure. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, or be qualified by substantial experience. You will have experience of working in a higher education library.
