Are you tired of working 70 hour weeks in hospitality, including every weekend?

Well this could be what you are looking for – 35 hours per week, hardly any weekends, 30 days annual leave and much more!

We are looking for a chef who likes to train others and can work in a fast paced environment to manage the kitchen in one of our commercial outlets, namely Drapers Bar & Kitchen. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to manage a variety of skills sets within their kitchen team, acting as a supportive and adaptable lead to them.

We are looking for a ‘hands on’, self-motivated person, who is committed to the values of the organisation, being a safe, friendly environment with the student experience at its core. They should have a passion for food and will have a huge say as to the direction our various food offers head over the foreseeable future.

With an expected start date in early October. Starting salary will be in the range of £22,781- £27,513 per annum (pro rata), inclusive of London Allowance. This role can also be taken on a term time only basis if suited.

We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus.

Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability. We are open to considering applications from candidates wishing to work flexibly.

We particularly welcome applications from people who identify as men as this group is underrepresented at this level at Queen Mary.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Stephen O’Brien (Head of Commercial Operations) at or on +44 (0) 020 7882 8458.
