About the Role

The Faculty of Science and Engineering are seeking an enthusiastic, creative individual to join the team as our Faculty Success and Engagement Officer.  The student experience is of paramount importance to the Faculty and Queen Mary, as we seek to ensure that all students are supported to achieve the best possible outcomes in their degree and to enjoy a great student experience.  We are proud of our diverse student population and embrace the challenges this may bring in supporting successful outcomes across our student body.

The Faculty Success and Engagement Officer will work with the Faculty Education Manager, the Dean for Education, the Deputy Deans for Education, and with colleagues across the five Schools within the Faculty, and with the Queen Mary Academy, leading on initiatives to improve student retention, enhancement of the student experience and student outcomes.

The postholder will be a member of the Faculty Education Team and will work closely, and have dotted line leadership for, the Student Support Officers based in each School within the Faculty. You will have a proactive approach to help lead and integrate enhancements across the Faculty in the following key areas: Proactive student support and mechanisms; Student engagement; Student voice; Inclusivity and Employability.

About You

You will need to have detailed understanding of student support issues within Higher Education, including thorough knowledge of the current Government advice and guidelines relating to student support issues and broad awareness of wider academic issues. You will need to have proven experience of developing and delivering initiatives to enhance the student experience. The successful candidate will also possess excellent problem solving skills, be able to build trusted relationships with key stakeholders and the ability to work creatively with diverse teams, communicating effectively using a range of media and in person.

The role is located within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, which comprises of five academics Schools.  We have a diverse student body who represent all areas of the wider community and comprise of circa. 8,000 students across the five academic Schools.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, permanent appointment, with an expected start date of October/November 2021. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £ 38,655-£41,918 (or up to £45,479 for an exceptional candidate) per annum pro-rata, inclusive of London Allowance.
