About the Role
As the Strategic HR Business Partner for Professional Services (PS) you will work in partnership with Professional Services Directors, and other senior stakeholders to drive the delivery of PS strategic priorities, contributing to Queen Mary’s 2030 aims and objectives.
You will develop a deep understanding of operational and strategic issues, challenges and opportunities facing Professional Services, to be able to influence and help inform local workforce planning and people strategies, and provide managers with effective advice and guidance.
You will demonstrate a coaching approach while providing robust and pragmatic support, helping develop management confidence and competence to effectively deal with the whole range of people management issues across the employee lifecycle.
As a member of the HR Leadership team, this is a senior role, reporting to the HR Director. The Strategic HR Partner for PS will take on corporate HR projects and responsibilities as needed, and will share leadership team accountability for delivery of HR Directorate performance objectives, along with delivery of the HR Directorate Diversity and Inclusion plan.
Ideally MCIPD qualified, you will have significant experience operating as a Senior HR Partner and be skilled in building trusted and impactful relationships with senior stakeholders, preferably within a large, complex and diverse organisation. You will have experience in effective workforce planning, change management and the ability to deliver bespoke people initiatives with long-term impact.
An up to date knowledge of employment law and HR best practice, along with effective communication and influencing skills are essential. You will have a good understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the Higher Education sector. You will be flexible, pro-active and resilient and enjoy variety in your work.

The post will be based on our Mile End and Whitechapel campus – including in our new building Dept W. You will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid way, in agreement with the HR Director. This is a full time, permanent appointment with an expected start date in January 2022. The starting salary will be on Grade 7, in the range of £56,678 - £63,351 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
