About the Role
The School of Business and Management (SBM) seek to recruit an inspirational teacher and educational leader to a Lectureship in Social Entrepreneurship. This post offers an exciting opportunity to make a major contribution to the further development of the MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation programme, and the Entrepreneurship Hub, QM Social Venture Fund, and the Department of Business and Society. Experienced candidates with a strong university teaching record are encouraged to apply. All applicants should have the ability to teach and supervise effectively across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the Department of Business and Society in SBM. The successful candidate will develop their innovative teaching practices along with scholarship activities in a rapidly growing, diverse, and distinctive management school.
As a Lecturer, you will lead and deliver modules in the areas of social and sustainable entrepreneurship, venture financing, innovation and strategy on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as provide supervision for dissertation projects within the Department of Business and Society. You will also contribute to scaling activities at SBM Entrepreneurship Hub. The Hub is the home for a range of extracurricular activities including student entrepreneurship competition, entrepreneurial projects and QM Social venture fund – the first student led venture capital fund focusing on social ventures in the UK.
You will have completed a doctorate (or have a doctorate under examination) in a relevant subject. You will have the ability to demonstrate a good understanding of practice as well as a commitment to cross-disciplinary learning and scholarship-based teaching. We are looking for someone with a keen interest and expertise in new methods of pedagogical engagement suited to our diverse cohorts of students. We also appreciate expertise in engaging large numbers of students and delivering successful pedagogy with large cohorts. In addition, we value experience and expertise in engaging in student entrepreneurship and other enterprising initiatives.

About the School of Business and Management, and the Department of Business and Society
The School of Business and Management is one of the eight schools in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The School has been undergoing a period of rapid growth, doubling our number of academic staff over the last five years. We presently have 90 academic staff. We have over 1,600 undergraduate business studies students plus approximately 800 students taking business in combination with other degree subjects within QMUL. At the post-graduate level we have approximately 800 MSc students and a well-established doctoral programme of around 80 doctoral students.
SBM’s core purpose is to promote social justice, sustainability and good governance in the management of private, public and voluntary organisations through our research and education. We are a distinctive School that takes a humanities and social science-led approach to our scholarship, and are now the largest school within QMUL’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, with its traditional strengths as a site of critical thinking in the humanities, law, history, geography and politics.
The Department of Business and Society brings together colleagues, committed to excellence in teaching and research, with a wide range of expertise from different disciplines. In our teaching and research we focus on how business and management influence society (for example, in economic development, through innovation in environmentally beneficial products and systems, through responsible management practices, by management in the non-profit and public sectors and in businesses in the creative and cultural industries), and how society shapes business and management (for example, through law and regulation but also through changing norms and expectations for equality and diversity and environmental sustainability).

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a full time, permanent appointment, with an expected start date of 1st September 2021 (or earlier). The starting salary will be Grade 5/6, in the range of £42,433 - £52,833 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
