About the Role
The School of Business and Management (SBM) seeks to recruit an outstanding educator and leader to a Professorship in Management. The post holder will assume the leadership role of Associate Dean for External Engagement for an initial period of 3 years to develop strategy and oversee delivery in this area for the School, including seeking opportunities to create new partnerships and design educational offerings that speak directly to the needs of private, public or voluntary organisations. The post offers an exceptional opportunity to innovate and achieve impact in a rapidly growing and distinctive business and management school.
Applicants will be established academics with strong teaching and educational leadership records, qualified to doctoral level, and will ideally have practitioner experience. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the capacity for excellent teaching in a UK university context and for driving innovation in teaching and learning.
The successful candidate should be able to lead and contribute to teaching on our MSc and undergraduate programmes, and will have substantial experience of developing and leading executive education, short courses or other educational partnerships. The area of teaching expertise is open, but could appropriately include entrepreneurship, marketing, financial management, operations management, responsible business, international business management, employment and skills, leadership and management development, coaching and/or professional development.
About the School of Business and Management
The School of Business and Management is one of the eight schools in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The School has been undergoing a period of rapid growth, doubling our number of academic staff over the last five years. We presently have 90 academic staff. We have over 1,600 undergraduate business studies students plus approximately 800 students taking business in combination with other degree subjects within QMUL. At the post-graduate level we have approximately 800 MSc students and a well-established doctoral programme of around 80 doctoral students.
SBM’s core purpose is to promote social justice, sustainability and good governance in the management of private, public and voluntary organisations through our research and education. We are a distinctive School that takes a humanities and social science-led approach to our scholarship, and are now the largest school within QMUL’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, with its traditional strengths as a site of critical thinking in the humanities, law, history, geography and politics.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a full-time, permanent appointment with an expected start date of 1st September 2021. The starting salary will be off scale.
