About the Role
You will become a part of a research team lead by Dr Ildar Farkhatdinov (the Centre for Advanced Robotics at Queen Mary) working on physical human-robot interaction and assistive robotics. You will be involved in mechatronic design and control of assistive posture and balance support systems for supernumerary robotic limbs. The project is funded by the UK EPSRC and will be conducted in collaboration with colleagues from the QMUL Medical School, Imperial College London, and industrial partners: Ocado Technologies, Shadow Robot, Adept Ergonomics.
You must have a PhD in Computer Science, Electric/Electronic Engineering (or related field) and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should have substantial knowledge in robot design, control and mechatronics, along with experience with robotic hardware. A good understanding of human-robot interaction control theory and human ergonomics/biomechanics would be an advantage.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 30 months, with an expected start date of July 2021. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £34,220 - £40,194 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
