About the Role
The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures within the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film is looking to appoint a suitably qualified Lecturer and Co-ordinator in German Language Studies to teach and coordinator modules relating to German language studies. The post is fixed term from 1st July 2021 to 30th June 2022 to cover maternity absence.
Duties will include teaching and convening undergraduate modules in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures. You will be required to carry out student assessment and marking, cooperating with relevant colleagues, and contributing to the long-term development of the modules to ensure that they meet QA standards. In addition, you will be required to coordinate the year abroad for students travelling to a German-speaking country.
You will have completed or be near completion of a PhD level or equivalent and have expertise in German language. You will have experience in delivering online learning effectively, and good organisational skills and the ability to work constructively and flexibly with colleagues, are also essential.

The post is full-time, fixed term with an expected start date of 1st July 2021 and end date of 30th June 2022. The salary will be Grade 6, £47,325 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
It is expected that the successful candidate will hold it for the full period. However, should the post-holder on maternity exercise her right to return earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month.
