We are recruiting a Postgraduate Admissions Officer to join our central Admissions team, which handles postgraduate taught and research programme applications to all the university’s Schools and Institutes. The postholder will be primarily responsible for applications to distance learning courses in the Queen Mary/CEG Digital partnership portfolio, currently including courses in Politics and International Relations, Law and Global Public Health. In addition to processing applications and making selection decisions under delegated authority, the postholder will provide a key liaison role with CEG Digital recruitment teams, as well as academic course leads. All Queen Mary Admissions Officers are expected to work flexibly across team boundaries to ensure that applicants receive a consistently good service and the postholder may therefore be assigned additional duties during peak times, such as undergraduate Confirmation and Clearing.
The ideal candidate will have recent substantial experience of working in an administrative role supporting the admission of students, ideally in a central admissions team in higher education. Experience of offer-making under delegated authority from academic departments will be an advantage.
You will be self-motivated and flexible individual with a customer-focused mindset. You will be equally capable of working independently and as a member of team, with good organisational skills, you will be able to prioritise, and capable of working under pressure while maintaining accuracy. You will be IT literate, with experience of using complex databases in an academic context, and have excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. You will be capable of carrying out tasks and making decisions consistently within a clear policy and regulatory framework, referring to managers only in complex cases.
The post will be a full time (35 hours per week) permanent appointment. Starting salary will be in the range of £34,733- £36,639 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
