The Careers and Enterprise Team’s mission is to develop the employability of Queen Mary University of London students from their arrival at the University until two years after graduation. The team consists of 35fte staff, working in partnership with academic schools and employers to provide an inclusive portfolio of careers support and opportunities to Queen Mary students and graduates.
The Careers Assistant will be a member of the Content and Operations Team, and will play a key role in providing frontline services to students and recent graduates. Responding to queries in person, over email and by phone, they will signpost enquiries to the most appropriate service or information resource, booking appointments as needed. The postholder will also support our information and student communications initiatives, and will contribute to developing our resources, social media and marketing. We are looking for someone with a keen interest in supporting students’ career journeys and who enjoys working in a team. They will be expected to provide first point of contact customer service and so will need to have strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills.
The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a part time (14 hours per week), permanent appointment, with an immediate start. The starting salary will be Grade 2, in the range of £22, 212 – £25,685 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Please note that we advertise our salaries on a range to indicate the trajectory of progression that can be made. Appointments are usually made at the start of the salary range.
This role will require 2 full days of on-site working on Mile End campus as the postholder will be responsible for dealing with in-person queries. Remote working will be offered only if the Careers and Enterprise Department closes due to further lockdowns.
